I got to have a great conversation with Darrel Stephens and Brian Stephens, Co-Directors of the Policing, Security Technology, and Private Security Research and Policy Institute - Florida State University.
Darrel has over 50 years experience in law enforcement, including as the chief of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD, and is the former Executive Director of Major Cities Chiefs and the Police Executive Research Forum.
Brian is the Senior Managing Director of Security Risk Advisory at Teneo, a global CEO advisory firm. Previously he served as Bank of America’s Chief Security Officer and has worked with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Both men have a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience, and were gracious enough to share some of that with us.
Our discussion focused on the research they are doing at the Institute, and how police and private/corporate security can work together to provide safety and service to their communities.
We also discussed the role that current and emerging technologies play in helping police and private security overcome staffing shortages.
